Floating Docks and Floating Barrel Technology
Since their invention, 55 gallon polyethylene plastic drums have been used as buoyancy under docks. Compared to commercially available plastic dock floats, 55 gallon drums are much cheaper because they are made in enormous quantities and are already shipped all over the country (reducing shipping costs). In addition, quality used drums are usually available for $15 each or less.
- Docks can be shipped as a compact kit and the bulky drums purchased locally. (AssemblingYourRollingFloatingDock.pdf)
- Docks are bolted, riveted, and screwed together with common tools. No welding required.
- The primary structure of the dock is 6061 T6 aluminum which is lightweight, strong, and salt water resistant.
- Aluminum bolts, nuts, and rivets are used for salt water corrosion resistance.
- The deck is pressure treated marine plywood with a lifetime guarantee.

RollingBarge.com floating docks are so strong, a standard trailer tongue and trailer axle can be mounted directly to the dock allowing the dock to be trailered down the highway. To launch the dock, simply back down the launch ramp until the dock floats of the trailer hitch. The trailer tongue can be removed once the dock is in the water.

Permits a Problem?
All our floating docks can be registered as U.S. Coast Guard Approved boats and fully insurable boats. If you are having trouble getting permits to install a dock, find out if you can legally park a boat in front of your cabin. If so, licensing one of our docks as a boat could be just the break you have been looking for!

Transoms are available for all of our docks in sizes from 10HP to 60HP. A small outboard can be used to move the dock several hundred yards or several miles.
